The West Michigan Section of the American Chemical Society (WMACS) would like to announce the following openings for positions on our local section board for 2027! The following positions are open for election this year:

·   Chair-elect (three-year term: one year as Chair-elect, one year as Chair, and one year as past-Chair)

·   Councilor (three-year term)

·   Alternate Councilor (three-year term)

·   Treasurer (two-year term)

·   Secretary (one-year term)

Members of the board attend monthly board meetings and participate in event planning and support for the section.  Councilors also serve as representatives to the ACS governance and attend ACS Council meetings.  Duties for each position are outlined in the local section bylaws, which can be found at www.wmisacs.org/bylaws.

We encourage all members to consider nominating themselves for these vital roles in our section leadership.  All members of WMACS are eligible for open positions, however student members must have the support of the board to run for elected positions.  Serving on the board is a fantastic opportunity to bring chemistry to our community, share your ideas for section events, and have fun with your colleagues!  Your involvement will have a significant impact and be greatly appreciated! 

If you would like to nominate yourself for one of these positions, please email wmacsoutreach@gmail.com with your interest!  All terms would begin in January 2027.  Nominations are open until August 15!  The election of Officers and Councilors for the WMACS will be held in October, in accordance with the bylaws of the section.  Thank you for considering volunteering for these important positions!  Our local ACS section depends on your support!
